Why are they a significant media institution?
They are a very influential hip-hop group, who have greatly impacted the hip-hop style of music. They also forwarded the movement of joining the white and black communities. Supported through rappers such as Eninem paying homage to them, particularly Dr-Dre who helped them at the beginning of the career.


Straight Outta Compton
Produced by Legendary Pictures, distributed by Universal Pictures and direct by F.Gary Gray. The story follows NWA in 1980s America. (Ice Cube and Dr.Dre as co producers) The movie was a commercial and critical success, became the highest grossing music biopic of al time, nominated for Academy Award for Screenplay.


Due to the movie being produced by two members of the band, this would have significant effect on the marketing, the politics and social attitudes will be biased and emphasised in the bands favour, which has been accused of downplaying the problematic and negative aspects of their work.


The target audience of the band will also be the main appeal of the movie. the movie will also appeal to the following groups:
1)Fans of rap and Gangster rap music (predominantly American Urban dwellers)
2)Fans of Biopic films (Open minded, educated, older audiences without NWA interest)
3)Fans of the film studios/actors/producers (consider the previous releases)
